Marriage Is God's Idea

This week, we kick off our long anticipated Marriage & Family series. In week 1, we're challenged to examine the foundation of our marriages and relationships. The story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4) serves as a profound illustration of how Christ meets us in our brokenness and offers living water that truly satisfies. Just as the woman had gone through multiple marriages seeking fulfillment, we often look to our spouses or relationships to meet needs that only God can fulfill. The key insight is that marriage will only work when it's in its proper place - with Jesus at the center. We're encouraged to make Christ the supreme authority in our lives and marriages, which provides a safe shore when trials come. This message reminds us that our deepest needs for love, security, and purpose can only be met in Jesus, not in our spouse or any human relationship. It's a call to examine our hearts and ensure we're not making idols out of marriage or our partners, but instead allowing God to be the foundation that enables our relationships to truly flourish.
